Mo’orea, French Polynesia
When?
Expeditions will take place from September 30th to October 6th and from October 12th until October 18th 2026 for 7 days of underwater adventures.
What?
Swim with Humpback whales, Rough toothed dolphins, Stingrays, Black tip reef sharks, Oceanic whitetip sharks, Pilot whales and more while learning more about ocean conservation and shark behavior.
How many people?
Only 5 people for the most exclusive experience !
MO’OREA
Mo’orea is a small volcanic island where lush green peaks meet the turquoise waters of the ocean.
With its warm and crystal clear water, Mo’orea is the best place in the world to swim and observe Humpback whales.
French Polynesia has been a leader in ocean conservation for years with one of the biggest marine sanctuary in the entire world !
Every year, between mid-July and mid-November, thousands of Humpback whales migrate from Antartica, where they feed, all the way to French Polynesia, where they mate, give birth and raise their calves. A unique opportunity to respectfully get in the water with them !
WHAT WILL WE ENCOUNTER ?
-

Humpback whales
There’s a 100% chance to see Humpback whales at this time of the year.
-

Reef sharks and rays
We’ll spend time at a unique lagoon where we’ll have the opportunity to meet lots of blacktip reef sharks and stingrays for unique photo opportunities !
-

Pelagic sharks
We’ll spend a lot of time in the open ocean where we have high chances of seeing pelagic shark species such as the amazing Oceanic whitetip shark, called “Parata” in French Polynesia.
-

And more !
During the expedition, we have good chances to spend time in the water with Rough toothed dolphins, Pilot whales, Eagle rays and with a bit of luck, we might even see Whale sharks or Sperm whales !
HUMPBACK WHALES
Every year, Southern hemisphere Humpback whales migrate between French Polynesia and Antartica.
They feed in Antartica and then come back to the warmer waters of French Polynesia to mate and give birth. During their time in French Polynesia, adult Humpbacks don’t feed at all. This is why, it is extremely important to minimize our impact. Respecting the animals is our top priority and we’ll always respect local regulations and analyze the animal’s behavior to make sure we can get in the water safely and without disturbing them.
During the expedition, we’ll get to fully grown Humpbacks, juveniles and also babies, which are sometimes very playful with humans !
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE HERE…
The underwater topography surrounding the island makes it a unique place for big animals which is why we can see so many different species around.
During the expedition, we’ll try to get in the water with any species we might encounter as long as the context allows it. The animal’s well-being will always be our top priority.
Literally, anything is possible in Mo’orea. Even if our main goal and focus for the expedition are Humpback whales and pelagic sharks, we might stumble upon other, much rarer, species to swim and interact with !
For example, during our 2025 expedition, we had the amazing opportunity to see and swim with a Whale shark, a giant pod of Sperm whales and even Orcas !
-

DIVING PROGRAM
We’ll spend time at sea every single day looking for whales, pelagic sharks and all other marine species we can encounter. Full detailed program at the end of the page.
-

REQUIREMENTS
You don’t need to be an expert in freediving to participate in this expedition but you do need to be comfortable in the open ocean because Humpback whales and Pelagic sharks tours are always off-shore.
-

INSURANCE
A dive Insurance is mandatory for this trip, we recommend DAN (find more infos here). A Travel insurance isn’t mandatory but advised.
-

GEAR
If you have it, we recommend bringing your own diving gear (mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, belt and weights) and camera gear. If needed, masks, snorkel and fins are available on the boat.
SHARKS
During the expedition, we’ll be looking for sharks as well. In the open ocean, we have very good chances of seeing mainly Oceanic whitetip sharks but also Silky sharks.
When we’re closer to the island, we’ll be able to see reef sharks such as Blacktip reef sharks, Whitetip reef sharks and Grey reef sharks.
Our entire team is composed of shark experts with years of experience interacting with all species of sharks. We’ll take care of all safety requirements and will always choose safety above all.
PROGRAM
FIRST EXPEDITION
DAY 1 - September 30th 2026
Everyone must be in Mo’orea in the morning. You will need to take the ferry (about 30minutes) from Tahiti to Vai'are, Mo’orea. We’ll pick you up at the wharf or at your accommodation if you’re already in Mo’orea and then leave the bags at our villa. Once there, we’ll meet the local crew and jump on a boat for our first Humpback whale tour in the afternoon.
DAY 2 to DAY 6 - October 1st to October 5th 2026
Full day at sea looking for Humpback whales, pelagic shark species and any other ocean creature we can cross path with such as pilot whales, dolphins, etc… To end day, we can either chill, head to the beach for sunset or even go out for a drink.
DAY 7 - October 6th 2026
Sunrise at sea for one last session with Humpback whales or any other creature we might see and then time to say goodbye and wrap up this amazing adventure in the afternoon.
SECOND EXPEDITION
A second expedition with the exact same program will take place from October 12th to October 18th, 2026.
PHOTO PACKAGE
Throughout the week, we'll be there to document the entire expedition.
After the trip, we’ll send you a photo package that includes high-quality, professional images highlighting our encounters with these magnificent creatures. At the sharks and stingray spot, we’ll make sure to capture those unique moments as you interact with these incredible animals and we’ll also provide photos of our group enjoying the trip, so you can relive these moments long after the adventure ends.
We can’t wait to share this incredible experience with you and look forward to capturing the magic of our time together in French Polynesia !
*please note that the photo package doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily have a photo of yourself with the Whales. We’re working with wild animals so we can’t predict the kind of interactions we’ll have and their well-being is our top priority. If the circumstances allow us to get an image of you with the Whales, we’ll definitely capture it but we won’t force anything.
